The Kidd Creek concentrator treating a copper$-$zinc ore $($mainly chalcopyrite and sphalerite being

the principal commercial minerals plus some silver distributed between the two sukphide minerals$),$

produces selective $Cu$ and $Zn$ concentrates $($one after the other$)$ and a final tailing, as shown in the

following block diagram.

The table below gives the assay values of $Cu$ and $Zn$ in the three products obtained in a particular

period of the concentrator operations:

a$)$ Calculate the daily tonnage of the products $Z($zinc concentrate$)$ and $T($final tailings$)$ using

the weight balance and $Cu$ balance, as well as the wight balance and $Zn$ balance in reference

to the overall flowsheet given above. Comment on the similarity or the difference of the $Z$

and $T$ values according to the $Cu$ balance and $Zn$ balance. Should they be the same?

b$)$ Calculate the recovery of $Cu$ in the copper concentrate $(\{$:$R_{Cu}),$ the recovery of $Zn$ in the zinc

concentrate $(R_{Zn}),$ and the ratios of concentration and $\{$:$K_{Zn}).$

c$)$ Calculate the metal distributions indicated by $"?"$ marks in the above table.
