The reactions during roasting stage are: 2PbS+3O2=2PbO+2SO2Pbs+2O2=PbSO44FeS+7O2=2Fe2O3+4SO2 At the end roasting stage all FeS is oxidized, but some PbS remains. The formation of PbS4 and PbO in the ratio 1:3 by weight. During the reaction stage following reactions occur: PbS+2PbO=3Pb+SO2PbS+PbSO4=2Pb+2SO2 Both of the above reaction continues till all PbS,PbSO4 has been consumed.
