The licensor has asked you, as the director of a medium size center, to provide more customized professional development training to your staff. List three topic ideas you might consider for each of these types of staff members:

1. a newly hired teacher assistant--has completed 30 hour basic STARS training, but that is all. The remaining teacher assistants have STARS trainings and minimal course work in ECE. Teacher assistants or teacher aides likely need support to understand guiding children's behavior, implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, working with families, and professionalism.

2. seasoned lead teachers --that have associate degrees, and have kept up with their STARS trainings. Think about topics that will support their implementation of emergent curriculum, assessment of child outcomes, work with families, or staff supervision (they provide oversight for the assistants).

3. the program supervisor--has an associate degree in Human Development with a minor in early childhood. This person may have curriculum oversight responsibilities, needs to help ensure developmentally appropriate practices, and may fill in for the director in his/her absence, etc.

4. yourself--has an associates degree. Think about training and education topics that would support you as a director, or topics that might be included in a bachelor's in ECE program, or a business degree.
