The main purpose of this assignment is to have you think through your office design very carefully. Design your home office based on where you live. This assignment will consist of the following sections:

• Location. Determine a location in your present residence for your home office. Justify why you have chosen this space. Include a specific description of the spaceincluding flooring, lighting--natural vs. electric, entrance, etc. Include any modifications that will need to be made to the existing space to make an effective, efficient home office.
• Equipment. Include a list of equipment/furniture/etc. that you will need in your home office to run your VOA business. Be very specific in your equipment choice including reasons as to why you have chosen that specific type/model of equipment. What type of equipment will you need? Computers, copiers, fax machines, telephones, etc. Be specific about what you will need and why you have chosen it. Refer to resources as to specific types of equipment--Apple vs. PC--laser printer vs. dot matrix--cell phone vs. land lines, etc.
• Furniture. What type of office furniture will your office have--desks, storage furniture, chairs, shelving, etc. Will you be using existing pieces or will you have to purchase new? Most likely you will have some things you can use and may not need to purchase any--but if you don't have it, you will need to purchase it. Where will furniture be located and why have you decided on that location?
• Resources. Include all resources used in planning your home office--include exact information so instructor may refer to your sources. A minimum of three sources must be used.

Optional: A layout may be included if you wish using Excel, a Word Table, a drawing scanned, or various other software as long as it is in a file format that the instructor will be able to open.
