the majority of this course we have dealt with continuous data that are normally distributed. What about data that are not continuous and/or not normally distributed? How would we test for differences or analyze relationships in this case? Describe, through an example, a variable that is not continuous in nature. Next, describe a nonparametric test other than chi-square and what it is used for. In your responses to your classmates, think of a real-world example that would use the test they describe.

Some variables to consider:

  • Ratings on surveys, such as very dissatisfied, dissatisfied, indifferent, satisfied, very satisfied
  • Color
  • Brand of product, part, machine,...
  • and so on...

The word nature is NOT referring to the environment, but that is still in play. Type might have been a better word choice.
