The Ministry of Health passed the Linda Mama Health Policy to improve expectant women's access to maternal health services (use of antenatal care (ANC) services and hospital delivery) to reduce illness and death among mothers when pregnant, during childbirth or immediately after delivery. The Ministry of Health would like to know the characteristics of women based on their use of maternal health services. The women are classified based on whether they used: ANC services, facility delivery and post-natal care. In addition, they are grouped based on their highest level of education: (i) primary school; (ii) secondary school; and (iii) university.
Viewing frequency | Primary School | Secondary School | University | |
1 | Facility Delivery | 0.10 | 0.06 | 0.11 |
2 | Antenatal Care | 0.04 | 0.04 | 0.13 |
3 | Postnatal care | 0.13 | 0.22 | 0.17 |
- Define the concepts of joint probability and marginal probability
- Find the probability that an expectant mother is a university graduate?
- Find the conditional probability that a woman with primary education will have a facility delivery?
- Find the conditional probability that woman who used antenatal care services has secondary education
- What is the policy implication of (ii) and (iii) above?
