The movieApollo 13is a favorite movie of mine, and in many ways it really embodies a lot of what project management is all about! And that includes dealing with challenges, problems, and emergencies when even the most carefully laid plans suddenly go awry. Although all of us - myself included - always wish for a smooth running and successful project, the reality is that very few projects are executed and completed without a snag or issue of some sort materializing. Although we are going to spend well over half this course talking about planning,in some respects therealproject management fun begins once the project work is finally under way! That's when execution, monitoring, and controllingtake center stage.

There are plenty of great movies out there that probably exhibit some or many aspects of project management. Do any movies come to mind for you? I will say that another movie - slightly less "dated" perhaps - also could be added to the list of project management films: 2015'sThe Martian. It's no surprise that movies about space exploration - such as the other movie that I have in mind - often serve as fantastic examples of project management in action! We'll talk more about this as the course unfolds.
