The name of the record store is Jukebox Records. Customers can be members or non- members of the Music Club. Non-members pay 10 dollars per CD purchased. The store categorizes each CD by style, artist and decade recorded. Each CD must fall into a single decade, single artist, and a single style category. The employees sometimes find it challenging to determine a specific style for a CD, but they must settle on one decade, artist, and style category. Typical styles include things like rock, jazz, rap, and country. Similarly, each CD must have a specific artist or artist group. Therefore, the same CD cannot have both The Eagles and Don Henley as the artist, only one or the other. The database also tracks the individual songs on each CD. Of course, some songs occur on multiple CD's. The store has found that there is no need to track the writers of songs, since no one ever asks for information in this manner. But, often customers ask for a list of in-stock items by a particular artist or by a particular style. Sometimes, customers just know the song title and need to find the matching CD. The database should be set up so that once a particular CD is added to the database it never needs to be entered again, even though inventory, of the specific CD, may run out from time to time. The database should be normalized to third normal form. Each entity or table should have a minimum of 3 entries, but you may need to have more to test and finalize the database. A good relational database should be capable of searching or listing by each entity type as well as by individual attributes across multiple entities. Proper referential integrity constraints should be implemented. This will require that you really think through your data. You cannot just put totally random data in your database, because it will not adhere to referential integrity. Primary keys should be declared and implemented as well as any needed constraints on the data. All queries should return results.
