The nonprofit sector is sometimes referred to as "America's conscience." Indeed, the sector historically has escaped the kind of scrutiny directed at government and business. Ironically, however, not-for-profit agencies have not generally developed ethical infrastructures common in the other sectors. This is especially surprising because their work often involves society's most vulnerable members. Discuss.
