The novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and the COVID-19 disease it causes have impacted almost all sectors of the Australian economy. Some areas boomed, for example sales of home gyms, toilet paper and pasta, while others faced severe restrictions or closure, e.g. commercial gyms, pubs, and restaurants, with resulting job losses and loss of income for staff.

For each of the rental/eviction scenarios given below, research the Government response[s] and how they might impact on the eviction.

A. Latifa lost her job due to the coronavirus downturn at her employer's business. Latifa has not been able to pay rent on her apartment in Meadowbank NSW for the past six weeks. Latifa rents the apartment from Anna, under a residential lease. Anna wants to evict Latifa.

B. Shangyun's business has suffered a large downturn due to the coronavirus, and can no longer pay the rent to Mary, her landlord. Shangyun has a commercial lease on offices in Ryde, NSW. Mary wants to evict Shangyun.
