The objective of Assignment 2 is to develop and describe the purpose, inputs, tools and techniques, and outputs for the selecting phase of a project management methodology.

AssignmentInstructions

The Snapshot Transportation Company Inc. accomplishes most of its work through projects. It has a very extensive project governance model.However, recently senior management has noticed that the company has difficulty selecting the most beneficial projects for the organization.

The company uses a project methodologyit callsSnapMethod.SnapMethodis a methodology adapted orcustomized from the Waterfall project methodology.SnapMethodcurrently has 4 phases - initiating, planning,executing and closing.

To address the company's project selection difficulties, senior management has agreed with the PMO director's idea to adda fifth project phase called 'selecting'. This phase will be used to identify project ideas that are suitable tobecome projects and, therefore, enter the initiatingphase.

Once the selecting phase is implemented for the company's projects, projects will follow the five phases in this order:

Selectingthe project idea to become a project,

Initiatingthe project,

Planning the project,

Executing theproject, and

Closing the project
