The Ontario government believes that government employees should appear neutral and should not display any religious connections in the public sector. So, the Ontario Government passed legislation called the Civic Work Act. The Civic Work Act prohibits all Ontario government employees from wearing religious artifacts or symbols (e.g. Muslim hijabs, Jewish Yarmulkes (skullcaps) Christian crosses) while they are at work. The legislation states that government employees that violate the legislation can be terminated. A group of Ontario government employees want to challenge the Civic Work Act in court.
