The organizations I have chosen to discuss are distinctively different in scope and nature but have some common similarities. The first two i have worked for and have great experiences with them.
The first one is a micro finance company that has a niche market on small scale businesses and enterprises. Basically food vendors, market women, small businesses and start ups. Its goal is to dominate and control this niche market which it will leverage on to maximize profit and possibly expand.
This goal is achievable through an organized and effective structure in place. The financial firm seem to have a multi divisional structure. Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operation Officer tend to have equally vested power and authority .Each of them head a department with managers and supervisors to help in meeting desired goals and objectives.
The second organization I have chosen to discuss is Sheraton Hotel Resort and Spa. It is a conglomerate of about eight companies with Starwood as the partner company. Starwood manages and directs the business plan and strategies.
Sheraton Hotel Resort and Spa is a global brand with a huge presence all over the world. It is well known for offering luxury and upscale hospitality experiences to business travelers, tourists and guests.
The company is remarkable for its organizational structure and design and I have experienced it first hand. Sheraton's structure is more of a functional one
The hotel is headed by a General Manager who oversees and ensures the smooth running of the Hotel.
The GM is assisted by department heads such as:
Food and Beverage Manager
Sales and Marketing Manager
Chef
Finance Manager
Human Resources Manager
Front Office Manager
Housekeeping Manager
Information Technology Manager
Safety Manager
Engineering or Technical Manager
These managers are answerable to the GM and are assisted by supervisors who delegate responsibilities to juniors staff for execution.
There is a well structured and coordinated system of operations that I love so much. Job functions and responsibilities are properly defined to enhance effective service delivery and high performance.
Departments work independent of each other but there is always a collaboration of ideas, process and some form of check and balance. For example HR is in charge of headcount but finance pays the employees. This means that finance and HR need to collaborate and work as a team in the most accountable way to have the exact headcount to be paid.
The third organizations I choose to talk on is Amazon. It is one of the largest and most trust brand in the globe today. I presently work for Amazon and am proud to call myself an Amazonian.
Amazon has a virtual structure which enables it to be more flexible and accessible and adaptable. The end goal of virtually inclined organization is to stay competitive through the use of technological innovations, media and the internet.
Q. PLEASE compare/contrast the following organizations that are provided above, showing your understanding of the types of structures and cultures, and extending the conversation with your own research. AS DETAILED AS POSSIBLE PLEASE
