The outside reading entitled, "5 Ways to Built a Top-Performance Supply Chain, by Matthew J. Rowan, gives a brief outline in how to build a successful and or top performance supply chain. Assuming that this outline was properly implemented, the impact it would have on the company is nothing to out of the norm. To build a top performing supply chain you need to be able to align capital investments with strategic priorities, enforce the standardization of supplies, control the amount purchases made by an organization, focus their labor resources on patients, and lastly be self efficient by doing things yourself very carefully (Rowan, 2012).
When you choose to do it yourself can also have some back lash on the company and also impact the company very badly. When things are done through contractor they have set prices in which you chose what you want to opt into or not. When you chose to do it on your own you have to take into consideration excess funds that might be spent on things that are not essential or needed. This will also affect the cash flow based on each item used and other fees need to be recorded in the financial statement (Rowan, 2012). Being able to save money and utilize the supply chain within a company is beneficial and it improves the efficacy of the company in the long run. Money can be saved and spent elsewhere that it is more necessary. For example, improving and trying to better patient services within the organization.
