The pandemic that ensued as a result of COVID$-19$ brought to the attention of the world how inadequate the global supply chain had become over the years. The most pressing issues not only dealt with supply shortages but also life support emergencies. As we struggled to find ventilators for the most critical patients, other dire needs came to the surface including an extreme shortage of protective equipment for our healthcare workers, diagnostic testing, equipment, and for health care workers necessary for providing care to seriously ill patients $($Bickley et al$.,2021).$ These healthcare shortages were critical for anyone directly affected by the virus; however, every consumer experienced a disruption in their demand for goods and services required for everyday living. Several items were in demand or were extremely expensive due to price gouging resulting from major supply chain issues as well as global shipping delays $($Hernandez & Wagh, $2022).$ The pure application of globalization had profound implications on our lives during this time.
