The payoff matrix is a table that depend on a user's strategy depending on a specific situation. The main goal of the payoff matrix is to determine whether a user benefits or loses. From the given situation below are users between whether humans and robotic agents will cooperate in driving safely or will defect and drive recklessly. Based on the case study the game theory will apply by whether the human will cooperate when the robotic driver emerges in front of him/her (science daily 2021).

In regards of the payoff matrix if each player decides to cooperate then both benefits, however, if one player decides to cooperate while other one defect that player will receive 5 points. Lastly, if both players choose to defect, they will not gain any points.

Payoff matrix human player/robotic agent below:

Player A (human player)

Cooperate

defect

Player B (AI robotic agent)

cooperate

Defect

According to the graph, if each player cooperates, they will receive 5 points each. Both will benefit from the situation and there will be no outrages and no accidents occur. If player A cooperates and player B defects, then player A will receive a payoff 5 points. However, if play B decides to play nice and decides to cooperate while player A defect, player B will benefit by 5 points. If both players decide to defect, both players will receive no points.

The dominant strategy for Player A

If player A decides to cooperate player B will choose defect, he gains profit of five points and receive a higher payoff

If player A decides to defect, player B will choose to cooperate, he gains profit of five points and receive a higher payoff

The dominant strategy for player B is to choose to defect

The dominant strategy for Player B

If player B decides to cooperate player A will choose to defect, player A gains profit of five points and receive a higher payoff

If player B decides to defect player A will choose to cooperate, player A gains profit of 5 points and receive a higher payoff

The dominant strategy for player B is to choose to defect
