The Pelverata Department of Environment is considering whether they need to change their messaging in regard to the importance of recycling soft plastics. They are keen to understand whether they are getting their message across equally well to all age groups. A random survey of 143 adults are asked a number of questions including, their age group, and how often they recycle soft plastics. The results are captured in the table below.
a) Present this data as a fully labelled stacked bar chart that allows the reader to perceive whether there is a possible relationship between age group and soft plastic recycling behaviour. The chart should include an informative caption. The chart should be created using Excel or a similar tool.
b) Being careful to state your conclusions, and using a level of significance of alpha = 5%, test whether adults' soft plastic recycling behaviour is independent of their age.
c) On the basis of your findings in part (b), explain whether the Department of Environment should consider different communication strategies for different age groups. If so, make a suggestion as to which age group they might wish to target.
