The population of interest was high school age players who played for teams in the 2019 St. Louis Youth Soccer Association, prior to the pandemic.The researcher was interested in investigating two variables (1) the players' self-rating on Competition Anxiety and (2) the players' Coaches' Rating of How Well an Athlete Performs under Pressure. The researcherrandomly selected 16 players and collected data on the two variables mentioned above.

The researcher knows that, based on norm data, the average score on the Competition Anxiety Scale is 50 for a large cross section of American adolescents. He wants to know if the St. Louis soccer players are more anxious about competition than the typical American teenager.
