1. The practice of virtual leadership is growing worldwide - leading to the rapid increase of Global Based Teams. "Virtual teams are composed of coworkers geographically and organizationally linked through information technologies attempting to achieve an organizational task" (Townsend, de Marie, Hendrickson, 1998, p. 17). In the workplace (and much like your PBL Team) Virtual Teams rely on technology and the management of technology involves planning, coordinating and executing a strategy to enhance an organization's effectiveness and competitiveness (Tidd & Bessant, 2009). Ultimately, companies, and the teams within them, will garner either a competitive advantage or disadvantage depending on how they predict and advance technology in their industry. Technology is paving the way and serving as a platform for receptive cultures and provides the climate for virtual teams to thrive -- much like this online learning environment.
