The primary treatment method at my practicum location is cognitive behavioral therapy, which is the most successful in treating mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and ADHD. Motivational interviewing is another technique the agency uses, primarily with substance misuse cases. CBT mainly focuses on an individual's thought patterns and feelings. It highlights the importance of tailoring interventions to each client's strengths and shortcomings. Additionally, it strengthens the client's capacity for thought through psychoeducation, which imparts particular abilities that the client can use to address their problems. Because this method helps clients become independent and involves a procedure that people from diverse backgrounds can understand, I am comfortable using it with my clients. In addition, I adore the methodology because it centers on identifying the underlying cause of a problem presented by assessing the development of opposing ideas and how they contribute to a mental illness (Magill et al., 2019). The method aims to change an individual's behavior by offering advice to the client to encourage the practice of actions that result in favorable consequences (DiClemente et al., 2017). We deal with young people and adolescents as part of our demographic. Therefore, the most effective methods for enabling the client to recognize their problems and acquire the ability to alter their beliefs and actions to affect positive outcomes are CBT and motivational interviewing.
