The problem that I would like to address with this grant is the high cost of textbooks for students at GRC. While following the guidlines below:

-The Request for Proposals:

A GRC invites students to propose an original idea or project for possible funding by the Colledge Foundation.

-Your original idea or project must solve a current problem or satisfy a need at GRC related to our Mission, Vision, & Core Values. - It must be an ongoing issue, and it must be sustainable after initial funding by the GRC Foundation.

-Funding will be limited to $2,000.

-Writing/Creating Procese

1.Choose a problem on or off campus that fits the above Request for Proposals. 2.Identify an audience (other than your instructor) who will use your proposal for a specific purpose. 3.Perform research on your subject. You very well may need to interview the people involved at Pierce college and outside sources. 4.Complete an Audience and Use Profile. 5.Create your Proposal. See and below for details regarding the specific elements of the proposal

The Problem or Opportunity of this Grant

-Describe the problem or opportunity in specific monetary terms, because the proposal itself will include a budget, and you want to convince your readers that spending money on what you propose is smart.

-Some examples that work well are things you have experienced at Green River that, perhaps, drive you CRAZY - like parking issues, or problems with the book store, or a specific issue with one kind of text book not being offered, or MAYBE YOU WANT FREE TEXT BOOKS for a specific course? Think of this kind of thing. :) The smaller the problem and solution, the better.

-Don't say that a design problem is slowing down production; say that it is costing $4,500 a day in lost productivity. Be specific in how it relates to the Colleges' Mission, Values, or Core Values. The Purpose

In this section, describe a solution to your small problem or an approach to an opportunity. Propose activities that will culminate in a deliverable that the grant you are seeking will provide. Be specific in explaining what you want to do. What is the background of the problem or opportunity?

In this section, show your readers that you've done some research on the problem. Remember that your readers are, essentially, the Green River Foundation. Show them that you understand the problem and the opportunity the grant will provide from the student perspective. What are your sources of information?

Make your sources clear, be it interviews with people at GRC, credible internet sources, etc. What is the scope of the proposal?
