The process to complete the Peer Presentation Feedback will go as follows:

  • Your team will upload the Presentation Zoom Recordings into a Discussion Forum designated specifically for the Case Presentation.
  • Each individual student will be responsible for one peer feedback submission after they are assigned the team to be reviewed. You are NOT responsible for giving feedback on all the group presentations.
  • Please use the Presentation Feedback Rubric as a foundation for responses.
    • This can be found by clicking the three dots in the top right corner and selecting the 'Show Rubric' option.
  • When thinking through your feedback submission, consider why your suggestions are important. And be sure to use course concepts throughout your discussion.
  • Remember that this is a significant growth opportunity for you and your peers. Positive feedback is essential, but positive tension is just as important.

The way I will be evaluating your responses will go as follows:

  • Did you show that you engaged with the corresponding course content?
  • Did you evaluate your peers with two positive areas and two areas of improvement?
  • Did you show critical thinking/attempted understanding in your response(s)?
  • Did you respond to your peer(s) in a thoughtful and engaging manner?

Your deliverable:

  • Once teams post their recording link, students will respond to the posts with their feedback.
  • Your response should be between two to three paragraphs of in-depth feedback. Each paragraph does not have to be complete, essay-style paragraphs, but should be distinct and have enough detail that your peers can gain valuable insights.
  • After you have given your feedback on the presentation, you will determine if you move forward with the recommendation the team suggested. In doing so, be sure to support your reasoning why you agree or disagree with the case presentation.

Please choose which part you will be giving feedback on with the following of deliverable steps.

The problem that Apple faces managing a global supply chain is how to manage a complicated global supply chain with many suppliers, different countries, and logistics issues, while also keeping up with quality, efficiency, and ethical standards. One of the biggest challenges was making sure that its suppliers followed ethical and sustainable practices, especially when it came to labor standards. In 2010 Apple faced criticism for poor working conditions and low wages in Foxconn factories in China, where many of their products are made. Reports surfaced that employees were working long hours, sometimes over 60 hours a week, with minimal breaks, low pay, and dangerous working conditions. Another challenge that Apple had was figuring out how to balance cost and quality in its supply chain. Apple worked closely with its suppliers to find ways to lower costs without affecting quality. Overall, based on our analysis, Apple has been pretty successful in managing its global supply chain despite their lack of transparency. They've been able to keep high levels of quality and efficiency, while also making sure to address important ethical and sustainability concerns. However, using the recommendations of our paper, Apple may have a solution to some of the issues in their supply chain in order for them to expand from their current point. Join us as we explore potential solutions to assist apple in managing a global supply chain.

2. Moving to the analysis of Apple's issue in terms of qualitative and quantitative findings. Beginning with how they control their entire supply chain internally- it requires high integration with centralized research and development as well as accounting to ensure streamlining of certain processes Apple also sources mostly from a singular manufacturer, which benefits them in flexibility and adjustments for volume, especially in regards to cost By limiting capacity for manufacturing, it can often lead to overwhelming demands and inability to get key parts they need for their production lines Many manufacturers decline contracts with Apple as the deals are not beneficial for their own profits Apple heavily relies on Foxconn, the world's largest technology manufacturer and service provider however this has led to ethical concerns due to high demand from its own employees And lastly the just-in-time model relies on supplier capacity to the fullest extent, making it very difficult to keep schedules and manage such a large workforce. Reviewing the financials along with the quantitative data of this case study, it seems as if there was some worry early on that Apple was no longer holding a share price of $700 dollars than it once was in 2012. While their stock value was drastically dropping, by 1996 Steve Jobs had returned to the company and maintained a way that Apple could continue manufacturing their own devices. This allowed them to have a slight advantage over the rest of the market and eventually have Microsoft investing $150 million into Microsoft Office to be compatible with Macintosh. Moving from their manufacturing and partnerships, Apple kept their supply chain global with 156 suppliers and assembly operations in China. The Chinese manufacturer would be where the iPhone receives its final assembly at about $8 per unit; a very small fraction of retail price tags labeled at around the $1,000 mark. Despite the outrageous markups, Apple began to see more and more success and by the end of 2013, they had made $171 billion in sales and later invested $10.5 billion of it into new technology. By investing in new technology it has allowed them to further improve their devices and the features they hold. It also displays that they care about their company and what they are looking to implement in future productions runs and their plans to incorporate new concepts and ideas.
