The purpose of the DroneSTAT project is two-fold. First, familiarize yourself with an application or mission from a list provided that is performed by UAS today. Second, present data using basic averaging statistics to summarize attributes of the UAS that perform the application you've selected.
Prepare one four to five-page report with references that includes the following:
- Description of the application chosen and how UAS are used to perform those types of missions. How many UAS are actively being used for this purpose? What class of UAS are they (i.e., sUAS under 55 lbs/ 25kg, medium, or large)?
- Then provide a UAS Profile Summary with the appropriate sections. Note: This is a summary of attributes of all the UAS performing the mission in the country, not a summary of a single UAS. Each section should include a brief summary of the average attributes for each property below, along with a chart or graph summarizing these data. You may provide a graphic for each individually or combine attributes related to one another. An example would be to combine max speed and cruise speed or endurance, range, and altitude on the same chart. Just be sure that the chart reflects the written summary you provide. Sections include:
- Platform Properties
- Airframe Type
- Energy Source Propulsion
- Maximum Takeoff Weight (MGTOW or MTOW) (lbs.)
- Payload Weight (lbs.)
- Performance Properties
- Max Speed (knots)
- Cruise Speed (knots)
- Endurance (hours)
- Range (mi.)
- Max Altitude (ft.)
- Platform Properties
Research details about the application/mission. Use any database to obtain your data for this project.
Choose an application from the list provided and a country of origin for the UAS manufacturer. Narrowing it down to a specific country is intended to narrow the data. A minimum of 15 and a maximum of 50 UAS platforms for statistical averaging are sufficient.
