INSTRUCTIONS:

Develop a WBS in support of an event of your choice. This assignment is foundational work for Assignment#3.

SITUATION:

You are currently a member of an event planning agency in your Event Planning course. Your agency is busy planning an event that will take place later this term. Your team has assigned specific tasks to you.

Event:Briefly describe the event in no more than one hundred words, and identify the responsibilities assigned to you. E.g., logistics, marketing, sponsorship, programming

Location and Time:Describe where and when this event will take place, and how long it will run, including set-up and break-down time (hours, start and finish time)E.g., 4 hours, 9am-1pm Fri.24 Nov.

Timeframe:Mention the total time taken up by this project i.e., the time allotted to planning + the time taken up by the eventE.g., 4 weeks (plan) + 2 hours (execute)

Max Staff:Mention the no. of people that will staff the event.E.g., 5 agency members, 5 volunteers. How many people share your assigned responsibility, or will be needed to assist you?

TASK DETAILS:

  1. Preparation:
    1. Develop a WBS in PowerPoint or MS Project that you will use to manage your responsibilities for the event (Level 1 of WBS) using the 5 phases of project management (Level 2 of WBS).
    2. Identify all your work packages in each phase (Level 3 of WBS).
    3. Identify two work packages in the planning phase, and two work packages in the execution phase, and break them down into smaller tasks (Level 4 of WBS). Identify how much time will be allocated to each part, who will be responsible for that specific task, if not you, and any resources you will need to perform that work package.
    4. The planning and execution phase must EACH include 5 milestones, 5 deadlines, and 5 tasks.
    5. The execution phase must include your tasks during set-up and break-down, as well as during the event.
    6. The WBS must depict 100% of the work you are required to do for this event across the 5 steps
  2. Editing:
    1. Use only bullet points andshort phrases to answer the questions
    2. Proofread and edit for formatting and consistency
  3. Referencing:Use in-text citations and references to demonstrate any ideas sourced from the etext (e.g. the 5 steps of project management).

THE EVENT I AM PLANNING TO CONDUCT IS BELOW

The event is a comprehensive financial literacy event designed to target the international students of Conestoga College. The event's objective is to educate attendees on fundamental financial tools, like how to use credit cards, how to raise your credit score, and what kinds of financial tools you should be aware of.

Format

The programme includes a 35-minute lecture on an Introduction to Business and Basic Taxation, a 40-minute workshop on Credit History Investments on Registered Accounts that International Students should be aware of, and a 20-minute Q&A period to address participants' questions and concerns. Ten minutes will pass between each lesson and a drink.
