The purpose of this assignment is to give you an opportunity to demonstrate your ability to prepare a project charter, otherwise known as a business case. This document will be a guide in helping you understand why you are initiating your project and what you would like to achieve at the end of your project.

How to Proceed

Following the example provided by the instructor in Unit 3 and using the Project Charter Template, draft a project charter for the project you are working on in this course. Ensure that your charter has the following elements:

  1. revision history;
  2. project title and description;
  3. business need or project goals;
  4. justification for the project;
  5. scope of the work ( at a high level);
  6. key deliverables or final product description;
  7. key milestones (with start and end dates);
  8. constraints, assumptions, risks, and dependencies; and
  9. approval signatures, identifying your project sponsor and project managers.
  10. Share the draft with peers in your group to collect feedback. In addition, feel free to gather feedback from your family or friends, depending on the type of project you are doing. Include their information in the revision history, as in the example provided in Unit 3.
