Scenario 1

The head of the behavioral risk factor surveillance department at Arizona Department of Health and Human Services concluded in his update last month that the BMI of the residents of Arizona are highly correlated with the residents' diabetes status. Complete the following using the "Diabetes Data Set".

  1. Test the claim that people with diabetes have higher BMI than people without diabetes at a 5% significant level using the two independent sample t-test.
  2. Test the same claim using the a Bayesian approach to hypothesis testing using the Bayes factor.
  3. Compare the results of the two tests.

Scenario 2

As the data analyst of the behavioral risk factor surveillance department, you are interested in knowing which factors significantly predict the glucose level of residents. Complete the following using the "Diabetes Data Set".

  1. Perform a multiple linear regression model using glucose as the dependent variable and the rest of the variables as independent variables. Which factors significantly affect glucose level at 5% significant level? Write out the predictive model.
