1). Identify the criteria used to address and resolve conflicts. How do leaders choose the appropriate conflict strategy approach?

Many tactics can be applied to aid in dispute resolution. The Thomas-Kilmann Model tool, which defines five conflict resolution strategiesavoiding, accommodating, compromising, competing, and collaboratingis used by many leaders. Avoiding is when the leader ignores the conflict, expecting it to disappear independently. Avoiding conflict may be advantageous in many situations, but it also prevents the problem from being resolved and may result in more severe issues. When a position must be determined swiftly, and the disagreement is ignored only because it is inconvenient, this option shouldn't be used. To be accommodating, a leader must put others' needs above their own. They are prepared to set aside their needs to "maintain the peace" on the team. As a result, the leader loses, and the other person or group triumphs. When a leader puts their wants ahead of those of others, they are competing. The leader uses whatever appropriate power he or she possesses to win the conflict. This conflict resolution style is relevant and crucial in some situations since it is powerful and effective. This strategy must be employed carefully and aware of this possibility to reach a successful conclusion.

When people or teams can prevail in a disagreement in this way, that is when collaboration occurs. The team and the leader work together to discover a solution that meets both issues. This method will require significant time, effort, and resources to identify the basic needs of each side. However, when parties compromise, there is no winner or loser; instead, a suitable resolution is reached by sharing the difference between the two sides, exchanging concerns, or finding a medium ground.

2). Discuss one or two ways in which the current social governmental policies influence any of these nonstate actors. Include reasons why the grant writing process is vital for the success of nonprofits.

Nonprofit organizations operate in compliance with the rules introduced by the government whether its state or federal rules or regulations. One way the current social governmental policies influence any nonstate actors is by providing a sense of security and backup when advocating for a specific mission such as protecting victims of crimes. Specifically, there are certain policies that a state might enforce or certain regulations that other states might not enforce or practice. As I had mentioned in the previous weeks about a nonprofit organization that advocates for and counsel victims of crimes, and helps eliminate violence, they are empowered by the current social governmental policies. With the social governmental policies that are in place, the nonprofit organization freely practices the rights of the victims of crimes that are again, supported by the policies that are in place. If certain state policies didn't exist, it would become an obstacle for the organization to properly implement their missions. It is easier for nonprofit organizations to implement their missions when there are policies in place. Otherwise, more of their funding is spent on advocating rather than implementing their mission with the support of current policies that are in place. Successful and efficient grant writing is a tool not only to secure funding but also an opportunity for nonprofit organizations to influence and gain support by having the opportunity to present their missions and valuable cause. Grant writing process is vital for the success of a nonprofit organization because nonprofit organizations rely on grants to help fund their programs. There are so many nonprofit organizations that wouldn't be able to continue working without the support of proper grant writers because they heavily rely on the funds. Securing funds and gathering support for their mission is vital and it is done through successful grant writing. Again, the grant writing process is vital for the success of nonprofits because it is a tool to help implement their missions. Grants are a reliable source of funds that provide a stable flow of revenue.
