The reason so many of us now live long and healthy lives is due to statistical analyses
Question:
The reason so many of us now live long and healthy lives is due to statistical analyses of health data.
Provide a specific example in which statistical analyses have had a significant impact on how we live our lives.
Briefly elaborate on its impact.
Every day, statistics and numbers are presented to us. We must sort through the information to arrive at some insight or understanding regarding the course we should pursue with our lives. Some people have changed their behavior (often for the better) to act more like others who are healthier due to using summaries and analyses of health data. This justification can also be used in other areas of our lives. In the past, traditional and herbal medicine have been the go to of old people when treating sickness and diseases that are acquired by their fellow people. Some of these traditions have been passed through our generation which are affecting how people act on modern medicine. Some of them rely on their passed knowledge that they disregard what their doctors have recommended for them to take to fix their illness. As more data have been released on the medical field about these herbal medicines, it has shown which traditional and herbal medicines have an effect on specific type of illnesses. Just like how water with lemon and honey can help cure a cough but not throat cancer. In order to identify patterns and trends, these data are acquired from people from all walks of life across the globe. Once those trends are made available to the masses, it then falls on us to use that information to address our own behavior. As people are now shown factual data, people can choose to use these statistical analysis as a source of factual information to give them insights on how to break traditions that have been harmful to their health making them proactive instead of reactive.
