The research investigates the relation of happiness, work-life balance and employee performance in pharmaceutical industries. Work-life balance improves the quality of life of employees and the productivity of the organization. Employees who can handle their job responsibilities and still have time for their activities are more likely to perform well in the organization as they are happy with their work-life balance. Work-life balance involves a stability between roles performed by the employee, and both roles should bring satisfaction to the employee.

In the literature review, the author search strategy for selecting work for literature review was aimed at literature that focused on work-life balance and employee performance.  The researcher included research from different years that gave essential information about work-life balance, how happiness relates to workers' career development, and improved performance, all of which addressed his research topic. The researcher also reviewed literature on job satisfaction and its effects on the productivity of employees.

The study provides insightful information on the management of pharmaceutical industries to implement for enhancement of employee performance. It is essential for managers to address the employee needs as it leads to increased employee performance, which eventually leads to the achievement of organization objectives. Limitations of the study include: the research was conducted in a short period, thus limiting the questionnaires used. The study only focused on pharmaceutical companies; other industries were not included. The study only used a qualitative approach as the primary technique; thus, the information might be inaccurate. Future research should be conducted within a more extended period and use a larger population size, thus increasing the generalizability of the study outcomes. Future research should investigate different organizations to improve generalizability. Both researches investigate work-life balance in organizations and how conflict in family roles may affect the work-life balance and performance of an employee.
