The research question is what are the hiring discrimination practices used on online recruitment platforms? Recent studies have shown males are hired at a much higher rate than females with a much higher salary. Additionally, online recruitment platforms are using the last names of applicants to determine if they are white or non-white. If their name sounds like it could be a white person, their application is forwarded to the next interviewer as a possible hirer. However, if the name sounded like a non-white person, the application was automatically disapproved. The approach used to reduce discrimination on the recruitment platform was reconstructing government systems. Meaning an algorithm was developed to monitor and track all applications that were disapproved to determine if it was based on qualifications or race (Hangartner, et al., 2021). Furthermore, they were able to determine the amount of time a recruiter spent reviewing an application to determine if they used the by-name method to make a decision. The groups involved were recruiters who used an online recruitment platform to fill vacancies in their workplace. Research showed that recruiters visited the platform mostly in the morning time, which resulted in the majority of disapprovals being non-white. After lunch
