The respect and public trust for attorneys have suffered due to the lack of ethics of just a few that have abused their skills and legal knowledge. Usually, those who are injured by these bad actors do not have the money to go after them and take the chance of losing. This then serves to increase the public's perception of the profession. For those who love the law and for serving the public there is a need to set the standard and expectations for a commitment to integrity.
