The Second Amendment

The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution states that, "A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed" (U.S. Const. amend. II). The meaning of this sentence is a fiercely contested and currently topical social issue that has been explored by the United States Supreme Court several times.
