The situation

You have spoken with your boss Sophia de Leon (the director) about sending you to an expensive sales seminar in Quebec City. The seminar will be held during the first week of June (Monday to Friday). You know it's a busy time at work, but it's the only time that it will be offered this year.

You have convinced one of your co-workers, James Watson, to answer your phone when you're gone. You normally tally up all of the sales leads each day and write a brief report to your director, so you will offer to do this every day from the seminar. It would make things a lot easier for your director and co-workers.

The seminar will be held at an expensive hotel, and the rooms are quite costly. Your company's rate for hotel expenses is less than what this room will cost. You offer to pay the full cost of the room on your own even though you will only be partially reimbursed. You really want to attend this seminar!

Once the training has been approved by the executive director, it's easy to apply. You will fill out all of the necessary forms and submit them to someone in HR who will forward them to the company putting on the seminar.
