The SPSS output below lists the results of analyses conducted on data collected from a randomized study of undergraduate nursing students. Three groups of students were examined for clinical competency during their medical-surgical clinical rotation. The first group received 50% simulation hours and 50% traditional clinical hours for their rotation. The second group completed 25% simulation hours (the other hours were traditional). The third group completed all traditional clinical hours (no simulation). Students were tested at the end of their rotation. The dependent variable was the scores on the Creighton Clinical Competency Inventory (CCEI). Higher values are indicative of higher (more) clinical competence. The group means were: Group 1: 50% simulation (X= 29.60) Group 2: 25% simulation ( X= 25.04) Group 3: Traditional hours ( X= 24.68)
