The "Stillman diet" was one of the earliest high protein, low carbohydrate diets for weight loss. A group of people followed the Stillman diet for 4 weeks to lose weight and reduce triglycerides. Doctors recorded their pre-diet and post-diet weights in pounds and triglycerides levels in 100 mg/ml.
Two single sample t-testswere performed. One was on the initial triglyceride level (variable name:Triglyceride); this test compared the sample mean to a population test value of140 mg/ml,which was the targeted mean starting level for a group to participate in this study. The other was performed on the starting weight (variable name:Weight), which compared the sample mean to a population test value of205 lbs.
Two dependent t-tests were performed. One dependent t-tests paired the pre-diet triglyceride level (Triglyceride) with the post-diet triglyceride level (Final_Triglyceride); the other paired the pre-diet weight (Weight) with the post-diet weight (Final_Weight).
All tests were performed at=0.05.
