ELECTRICAL SAFETY ACT ACT NOW ASAP PLAN / CONTROAL UTILITIE S 1. Has contact been made with Utility companies? 2. Has protected buried utility lines or supported when doing the excavation? 3. Has protected overhead and site lines protected? 4. Has it been determined whether the lines are insulated or bare? 5. Has the height of the exposed live lines been determined? 6. Has a risk assessment been performed to identify safe operating procedures and rules when performing work near overhead electrical power lines? 7. Has the power supply company been requested to switch off the power supply when a danger of machinery crossing the exclusion zone surrounding a power line has been determined? 8.Is the operational characteristics, size, and mobility of any machinery or plant that may be utilized near powerlines decided by the risk assessment? 9. Is the increased operating height of any equipment, tools, or machinery utilised near a powerline known? 10. Are extension cables left lying in pathways or other locations where they might be damaged by passing vehicles or become a tripping hazard? 11. Has a property plan including the location of power lines, their height voltage, and associated structures such as poles and stays been prepared? POWER TOOLSICORDS 12. Are the entry points of underground electrical cables entering sheds or other structure clearly marked? 13. Are the General Power Outlets protected by the installation of residual current devices (RCD's) to prevent electrical shock? 14. Are portable RCD units available for use with electrical equipment when such equipment is not being used on protected circuit? 15. Have all RCD's, electrical appliances and power tools used in the workshop been inspected, tested and tagged by a qualied erson? 16. Are electrical switches. General Power Outlets and switch boxes maintained improper working order and kept clean from a buildup of rubbish and spider-webs? 17. Are electrical circuit boards and other electrical switch equipment placed in places where they cannot be hit by automobile or pedestrian trafc? 18. Are all extension leads suspended and kept away from work areas where they may enter a passageway/access-way or where uids may harm them? 19. Is it a well-known policy that power leads should be uncoiled when in use to avoid heat buildup and the risk of re? 20. Are there any wet or damp areas that may pose an electrical hazard in or around the work area? 21. Do all mains power switches that control electrical circuits include a lockout feature to prevent unintended activation of any circuit when repairing or maintaining equipment? 22. Are all power tools and extension leads double insulated? 23. Have double-adapters or pig gy-back plugs been with drawn from use where it is illegal to use those devices? ELECTRICIANS 24. Are employees trained aware of the hazards and risks involved with using electricity at work? 25. Is portable electrical equipment used in wet or near-wet conditions? 26. Does private car commute control near the power line? 27. Has anyone been trained to rescue another person who has been electrocuted? 28. Are skilled electricians hired to do electrical work as needed? 29. Is a certicate of compliance supplied by the electrician for the completion of all electrical work? 30. Are the amplifier wires or equipment used rated for the desired ampere or wattage level? 31. Do exposed receptacle boxes have nonconductive materials? 32. Have all appliances switched off before connecting to the power supply? 33. Are traction wires suspended while using corridors or the workplace to eliminate the risk of falling or slipping? 34. Do grounded equipment have a three-wire cord with a three- prong plug? 35. Do the plugs have properly grounded 3-pole outlets? 36. does this place use any light duty extension cords in a non- residential situation?
