The transportation problem handles the distribution of goods from various supply points (origins or sources) to various demand points (destinations). In general, you have the capacity (supply) of goods at each source, a requirement (demand) for goods at each destination, and the shipping cost per unit from each source to each destination. The objective of this problem is to schedule shipments in such a way that the total transportation cost is minimized. On the other hand, networks serve to model a wide range of problems.
