The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) along with the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative produces a Global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) which "measures poverty by considering various deprivations experienced by people in their daily lives, including poor health, insufficient education and a low standard of living" (http://hdr.undp.org/en/2021-MPD). It examines both the incidence and intensity of poverty. Researchers suspect that the average MPI in Sub-Saharan Africa is significantly more than the MPI in the Caribbean region.
