In the training institute of DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) at the Shastri Park, trainee coach drivers undergo extensive training in operating train. They undergo classroom training and computerized simulator training. In the simulator, they experience the same visual environment, signaling, sounds and cabin environment as a real metro coach. Trainees are also exposed to different situations such as brake failure, accidents, driving during fog, rain etc. In addition, they also run an actual train on a 1 km special test track and spend two weeks on board a running train, in the presence of an expert trainer. After every six months, drivers come to the training center for retraining and recertification.
