The Waterloo Regional Police Organization, along with several other police services, banded together to identify a computer system project that would streamline activities within each service. This covers components of their operations such as computer-aided dispatching, records administration, mobile workstation environments, and, most significantly, general information exchange across these police departments. The project had been in the works for much too long, and there were a number of major concerns with the computer system provider, ITG, that remained unaddressed and unresolved. Larry Gravill, the head of the Waterloo Regional Police Service, has concluded that a choice must be made on whether to continue working with the existing vendor or to move on to the few other firms and suppliers that have come around since ITG was first picked.
