The whole point of the assignment is to after doing the lab I should be able to write a lab report
Lab Instructions Objective: The goal of the lab is to understand precision, accuracy, significant numbers while you measure objects. Use concept of SI units, scientific units and rules of significant numbers to report your answers. Material Used: Paper, pencil, ruler, string, scissor (optional), book, circular object. Online Ruler can be accessed at https://www.piliapp.com/actual-size/cm-ruler/ (If you are using online ruler then fix its size by writing your laptop's screen size.) In each activity, use either a physical ruler or online ruler if you do not have a physical ruler. You may use a measuring tape.
Activity 1: Straight Lines on a paper: (a) Draw a straight line 8.05 cm long. (b)Draw a straight line 23.5 mm long. (c) Draw a straight line 0.127 m long. (For identification, label each line with its length.)
Activity 2: Laptop or chromebook (two places of decimal): (a) Measure the width w (shorter dimension) of the laptop in cm. (b)Measure the length l of the laptop in cm. (c) Measure the thickness t of the laptop in cm. Activity 3: Your Height (two places of decimal): Measure your height in cm. Activity 4: Thickness of a sheet of paper (one place of decimal) Measure the total thickness L of n pages of the textbook in mm (pick a convenient number n). Calculate the number N of sheets of paper making up then pages: N = n/2. Calculate the thickness s of one sheet in mm from s = LIN Find a circular object at your home, it can be a circular plate, paper plate, table, wrist watch, wall clock etc. Find a string that you can wrap around the circumference of the circular object completely once. Now measure the length L in cm of that piece of string that was wrapped 1 time around the rim of a circular object. This is circumference of the circular object (C). Measure the outer diameter D of the object, in cm. Calculate the measured value of pi by = CID. Calculate the %error between measured value of Pi and standard value of Pi. Standard value of Pi = 3.14 Activity 6: Convert all answers in SI unit: Now convert all answers you have found in above five activities in SI unit and report them in scientific notation with significant number of digits.
