The Zambian Government (GRZ) declared Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) transmission and distribution lines as a common carrier of electricity. This infers that GRZ through ZESCO Ltd will use the CEC private infrastructure without any contractual agreement to supply power to any of the clients. This came to effect after the Minister of Energy, Mathew Nkhuwa signed a Statutory Instrument No. 57 of 2020 under the Electricity Act No.11 of 2019.
