I live in Pennsylvania with my husband and our (almost) 2 year old daughter. I currently work as a Senior Product Development Coordinator for a direct sales Jewelry Company. While a fair portion of my job entails communicating designs to our vendors and getting them produced, another portion of my job has to do with budgeting, pricing, and forecasting. Pricing is the biggest part of accounting with my job. Determining prices to get the best profit margins is crucial for meeting our sales goals. I learned on the fly most of these skills and as I've moved through my schooling, have seen how they actually fit into accounting and have really opened my eyes up to the importance of accuracy when it comes to these factors. Small inaccuracies can really change things like the budget for a season, and can cause large issues for the company. In the future, I would like to move into a more heavy managerial accounting position for a larger corporation. I don't have a specific career path I wish to go into yet, but I do have my sights set on going for my CPA after graduation. I am hoping that as the accounting classes get more in-depth, it will help me determine the path I wish to take.
