There are 3 scenarios below. Read and answer each carefully.

A. Two 12 year old boys find some old motorcycle parts in a trash dumpster behind an old building. The boys see the word "Harley-Davidson" on one of the parts. They take them to the local Harley Davidson shop. At the Harley Davidson shop, the Parts Manager immediately recognizes these as very rare and valuable parts for a 1915 Harley Davidson Motorcycle. They are worth at least $10,000 dollars. He tells the kids he will give the two boys 10 dollars each for "all these old parts, plus you can each have a T-Shirt." The kid's are very happy and accept this deal. When the father of one child finds out about this "deal," he speaks to a lawyer. The lawyer tells the father that there are at least two major "problems" with what the Harley Davidson shop did. Provide THREE reasons the kids might get the parts back from the dealer and void the contract: REASON ONE: ___________________________________ REASON TWO: ___________________________________ REASON THREE: ___________________________

B. The Service Manager for Kern Toyota in Winchester knows that his very best auto-mechanic, Jimmy Thudpucker, wants to move to Leesburg to be closer to his parents who live in a retirement home there. Jimmy can easily get another job in Leesburg for better pay and benefits. The Service Manager verbally tells Jimmy that "If you don't quit and keep working here at Kern Toyota for 13 more months, I will promote you to Assistant Service Manager after 13 months and also give you a $10,000 dollar bonus." Jimmy immediately sticks out his hand and says "Deal." The Service Manager shakes hands with Jimmy and says "I am glad you are staying with us. Now, let's all get back to work." 13 months later, Jimmy goes to the Service Manager's Office and asks him "I am still here, where is my promotion and 10,000 dollars?" The Service Manager tells Jimmy, "Things have changed since back last year with Covid. You can keep working at your same job or pay or you can quit, I can't do more than that." Jimmy tells the Service Manager, I am going to sue the he## out of this place!"

USING BASIC CONTRACT LAW PRINCIPLES, BRIEFLY DISCUSS THIS ARRANGEMENT AND IF JIMMY HAS ANY LEGAL BASIS TO SUE? IF JIMMY CAN SUE, WHAT WILL HE GET IN DAMAGES? _____________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________

C. Judy wants to sell her 2002 Honda Accord for $7500.00 dollars. Judy knows her co-worker, Jimmy, is looking for a good, reliable, used car. Judy sends Jimmy an email and writes the following: "Hey Jimmy, I will sell you my 2002 Honda Accord for $5700.00. Do you want to buy it? Let me know as soon as possible." Jimmy sees the email five minutes later. He immediately goes next door to the Bank where he withdraws $5700.00 dollars in cash. He then emails Judy back and writes "I will take it." He then rushes over to Judy's office and hands Judy the cash money and says "Here is the money for the Accord, $5700.00 dollars in cash. Please sign the title over to me today." Judy is very surprised and realizes she has accidentally transposed the "7" and the "5" and sent the wrong dollar amount in her email. What is the applicable legal doctrine here? Will Judy be required to sell her car for $5700.00? ____________________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________________________
