There are many things that make health care workers different as a population. Healthcare educators actively socialize students to become comfortable with the demands of the profession. These demands include the ethical principles we have been studying. They include an inherent (existing in something as a permanent, essential, or characteristic attribute) respect for people, and a rejection of any group being unworthy. Advocacy for vulnerable populations is part of the ethical standards for health care workers. Example of Advocacy Jaida spent 30 years working as a health unit support clerk. She had spent a career watching the ins and outs of healthcare, listening to the doctors discuss difficult situations with families of the very ill. She also saw how immigrants, the poor, and ethnic groups struggled with the whole health care system and culture. When she retired, she decided to volunteer to help those from vulnerable populations traverse the deep waters of being ill.
