There is a feed mixture containing 25mol% of isopropanol and 75mol% of water. The feed flowrate is 120kmol/h. Cyclohexane is suggested as the entrainer to produce an isopropanol product of at least 99mol% and a water product of at least 99.5mol%. You may have to find all the required thermodynamics data from literature. (a) Sketch and explain the system residue curve map (RCM). [7 marks] (b) By analysing and applying RCM, propose and design a system to meet the above separation requirements. Include the process flow diagram and a complete mass balance for all the streams. Show the sample calculations. [35 marks] (c) Use Unisim to conduct rigorous simulations of the columns. Report, analyse and discuss the results. This part should include at least PFD, mass and energy balances, temperature profiles, concentration profiles, and flowrate profiles in the azeotropic distillation column. You need to submit the final Unisim files. [17 marks] (d) Based on literature survey, propose and discuss two other different approaches that could be used to meet the separation requirements. [6 marks]
