There is much disinformation being circulated on social media about the efficacy and safety of these shots. Many essential workers who are entitled to receive them, have passed on their option. In response, we are beginning to see a marketing effort by city, state and federal government, complete with promotions on various advertising platforms, to encourage the population to receive their shots so as to begin to emerge from this national nightmare.
Take some time to look through the internet and social media for advertising messages encouraging us to get our vaccinations as soon as we are allowed to. Please describe the elements within the ad, that is, the copy/dialogue, talent/actor, sound bed/music, if any, location/set and information being transmitted. Is this an effective advertising message? Who is it targeting? Are you more likely to seek a vaccination now then you might have been previously? As advertising students, it is important that you begin to "deconstruct" ad messages to understand how they are constructed and how effective, or not effective, they are.
