There is widespread concern about potentially detrimental effects of too much screen time on child cognitive development. On the other hand, some argue that technology use can be beneficial to children's learning. The Longitudinal Survey of Australian Children collects information about children and their parents. In particular, mothers of school-aged children were interviewed about how many hours of screen time their child had in a typical week. Both mother and child were also tested on their reading ability using a test suitable to their age. We can use this data to estimate a simple linear regression model for the child's reading score as a function of hours of TV watched:

X = hours of screen time in an average week
