There were great call-outs and connections to "culture" last week and this first DQ this week also has many culture-related impacts and associations, especially as we talk about communication! Large scale PM can work in organizations that are very very culturally disciplined and have very tenured senior management teams that are VERY familiar with working with one another. Usually culture (bad culture) will kill strategy any day. Along with that comes any sort or semblance of hope for organized project management. Personally, I would know that I could not function in such an environment and seek to exit that situation or change it if possible. Only when you have excellent leadership who are very familiar with the style of their peers, are on the same page as far as organization strategy is concerned, are strategically aligned and not in power-politics, you can have successful project management at both the macro and micro level within a company. I have personally seen it myself, but it is both a journey and struggle to get there for both the organization itself and the PM or PM dept trying to push this discipline and culture. Its certainly an "all hands on deck" effort
