thermodynamics question 5.
A process industry requires 5 kg of steam per second at 2.5 MPa, which is extracted from the turbine of a cogeneration plant. 12 kg of steam per second enters the turbine at 8 MPa and 550C and leaves the turbine at 15 kPa. The extracted steam leaves the process heater as a saturated liquid and mixes with the feed water at constant pressure. The mixture is pumped (P II) to boiler pressure. Isentropic efficiency is 85% for the turbine and 100% for the pumps.
a) Draw the T-s diagram and obtain h-values for points 1-8.
b) Determine the heat output to the process industry.
c) Determine the cogeneration plant's produced net power and thermal efficiency.
